YiiPEEE ... so I didnt have to go to the store on thanksgiving to buy anything else. I was up from 3:00 am and cooked my butt off. Well not really but I had it down so we could eat at noon. I even got to clean up and vacuum. Like there was anyone coming over. Anyhow I got a call from my son from boot camp. He said the Army fed him all he wanted and the food was really good. He is fighting off a cold and asked me to send him some cough drops because the ones on base are ridiculous..whatever that meant. He can only have menthol ones like Halls and vitamin C's. I guess the army doesnt look at that as contraband. He told me when he graduates it will be snowing up there so bring winter clothes. Like I own any. This is Hawaii. So not I have to buy a coat, mittens, and a warm scarf and a few sweaters. And I have to do the same for the kids and Walt. Oh well we will need them when we move to the big island because we can always go up to the snow in Maunakea. I kind of wish we went there for Thanksgiving but Hilo is such a small town and I didnt know if any resturants would be open and there is the dog.. we didnt have enough time to board him. Walt just told me he works now on Christmas and New Years which sucks. This will be our last Christmas here and I wanted to do it big. Like have a party or something. My knee is killing me today. I guess all that standing. I made so much so we will be eating for the next couple of days. I havent even started eating some of the desserts yet. Here is what I made..
Baked Turkey
Lasangna (its an italian thing)
cantalope with parma ham wrapped around it
Antipasto with peppercinis and salami and marinated mushrooms
italian sausage stuffing with pinenuts
Galic mash with homemade gravy ( no giblets)
Stuffed mushrooms
Homemade garlic rolls
corn niblets (canned of course)
Ambrosia
Cranberry/orange/apple relish
potato salad
sweet yams with walnuts and marshmellow topping
Desserts :
Tiramisu
Pumpkin pie
Sweet potato pie
Lemon bars and Armarreto cookies
Pumpkin crunch with whipped sweet heavy cream
5 layer jello bars
Cannolis with chocolate ricotta cheese
Pumpkin bread which my sister inlaw made and gave to my husband.
Thats it.. now to get ready for Christmas. I am beat and stuffed...just like the turkey I stuffed today. I dont have anymore room in my fridge. Told you Jaye to fly over. Oh and in case anyone was wondering ...no I am not going to be standing in any lines tomorrow to partake in the busiest shopping day of the year. What I dont buy during the week will be bought online...maybe ... or made.
